Background

Christmas, it's the same every year. Your inbox and social media feeds are flooded with the 'best wishes' from an endless winter parade of brands. But let's be honest, who wants to hear from a multinational company at Christmas? No one, that's who. So, we wanted to do something different that people would cherish, not just another 'best wishes from [insert name]'. Without any kind of budget, we needed a Christmas miracle.

Execution

Rather than offering the traditional season’s greeting on social media at Christmas, we helped Nissan do something unforgettably different. How? By turning to their Spotify account and crafting a hidden message out of classic song titles by the likes of Dean Martin, the Beatles, Ella Fitzgerald, Bing Crosby and more. The result was a Christmas message courtesy of musical gods - and most amazingly of all, we didn’t have to pay a thing in royalties. So, it just goes to prove that it really is the thought that counts, not the size of your budget.

Outcome

After releasing the playlist through Nissan's social media channels, along with supporting hints, clues and a few little helpers, we had an instant Christmas hit. It went that went right up the charts with thousands of listeners, likes and shares. More importantly, we managed to bring Nissan into the homes of thousands over the holiday season. Proof that it really is the thought that counts. Not the size of your budget.
