Description
Our assignment was to increase sales of the Mitsubishi Colt and to promote the upcoming offer: 0% interest and 0€ down payment on all Colt models. The car seemed to us to be suspiciously low priced, so we called in the police. We created a group of four fictitious yet highly committed police detectives willing to prove the criminal nature of this offer. Together they formed the ‘Colt task force’ and immediately sprang into action. The campaign follows the daily work of the task force and their desperate attempts to find new clues and finally leads people to Mitsubishi dealers.
Execution
The campaign started in January 2008 and used a broad variety of media. To create awareness for the overall campaign we started with print ads, posters and placed Colts in public places and sealed them with police barrier tape. Later we made the task force get stuck and let them ask for help via television and radio. To create more involvement we sent out special mail-outs and made use of guerrilla advertising by placing USB-sticks with confidential data in public. Every media mentioned as well as the web banners we used directed the people to website of the task force.
