Our hot download was an album by Taiwanese megastar Jay Chou, available exclusively on MotoMusic and downloadable on the Razr phone. When DJs heard about Chou’s album on MotoMusic they recommended it to listeners on-air and on their hugely popular station Bulletin Boards, where we also advertised the site. With the album available only on MotoMusic, millions went to the site.

Outcome

•MotoMusic.com.cn is now the number 1 music download site in Asia against 20,000 rival sites.•The site attracted 250 million visitors.

•Sales of the Razr phone soared 73% while Motorola market share doubled from 11% to 23% over 12 months.
