Background
Hong Kong's love of movies is long and diverse. Both Western and Asian cinema illicit a strong emotional response for all generations. We wanted to capture that emotion by bringing to life iconic movie scenes from legendary films in modern illustrations. 24 movie posters were created, each bringing a recognisable scene that touches on the imagination of HK movie goers. Weaved into the poster were memorable lines reference an iconic scene, but with HSBC credit card offers as a unique twist. We made HK movie goers aware of HSBC's contribution to the local film community and increased preferential spending on their HSBC credit card.
Execution
Getting audiences to know the films without impeding onto movie copyright meant using a flexible art form we could play around with. Illustrations were chosen as a direct yet simple way to capture the romance between existing films and movie goers, and also creating our own unique approach. Four well known local illustrators were selected to bring to life films in their own interpretation and style.
