This ad was created to promote "The Queenslander" - a special edition of the popular Australian utility vehicle, the Nissan Navara. This model is only available to Queenslanders = those who live in this northern state of Australia. The commercial required a strong retail focus.Since the Navara Queenslander is only available to Queenslanders, the idea was that you needed to pass "The Queenslander Test" to own one, avoiding imposters. The constant rivalry between Queensland and neighbouring states made the idea relevant and "real" to Queenslanders, the car was even more desirable. The "Big Pineapple" is a Queensland tourist attraction and the "Cane Toad" is a local pest.
