OVERVIEW

Description

The war in the DRC may have ended in 2006 but rape continues on a massive scale. In the first six months of last year alone over 12,000 women and young children were raped. But apart from an occasional write-up in the international press the issue has been virtually ignored. Those who ignore the lessons of history are damned to repeat them. As part of our anti gender violence campaign for X news we chose to highlight this issue in an effort to raise awareness and money for those combating the problem.

Execution

The direct marketing campaign ran in conjunction with our press campaign. Press targeted a wider demographic; it was more about getting the story to as wide a target as possible. Direct was about targeting key decision makers, people who could individually make a difference.

Outcome

Our website was inundated with requests for more information. Charities listed on our website have seen a significant increase in donations.
