Description

GRAACC decided to improve their online presence by using social media. The idea was to request 10 celebrities to donate their Twitter profiles to 10 children in cancer treatment.

Each kid took over 1 celebrity profile to tweet about their dreams, day to day routine and battle with cancer, raising GRAACC’s profile and the need for donations to help the cause.

Execution

On November 23rd, the National Childhood Cancer Day, 10 celebrities answered GRAACC’s requests and donated their Twitter profiles and their thousands of followers to the cause.

Each kid took over 1 celebrity profile to tweet about their dreams, day to day routine and battle with cancer, raising the profile of GRAACC and the need for donations to help fight childhood cancer. GRAACC’s kids’ tweets impacted 24m users, a number equivalent to Lady Gaga, the most followed Twitter profile.

Outcome

Donate Your Fame was the most successful fundraiser in the history of GRAACC’s digital campaigns. Donations increased 4,760% compared to the same period in 2010 - 50 times more donors than the previous month..
