This book describes obesity as a health issue throughout the United States by referencing the stories of patients and their HCPs living in 3 distinct regions. Biloxi, Mississippi is in the American South, the region where obesity is most prevalent, and where language is often quite expressive. Here, being “big boned” is a frequently offered, tongue-in-cheek excuse for appearing to have obesity. Sacramento, California is on the West Coast, and Chatham, New Jersey is on the East Coast.
