Description

Everyone loves Pizza Hut’s fast delivery. But we didn’t always keep to our 30 minutes or less delivery promise. Late deliveries gave us a bad reputation. This left many hungry customers unhappy and they made their frustrations known on social media. With every bad comment, our reputation took a beating.

To win back customers, we had to find a faster way of delivery. We attached an oven on the back of our delivery bikes and created the world’s first oven on wheels - Pizza Rescue. Our pizzas are cooked on the way so what usually takes 30 minutes can now be delivered in half the time.

We sent Pizza Rescue to unhappy customers and soon turned angry mouths into happy, willing broadcasters on social media. People trusted our delivery service again. Pizza Rescue saved our reputation for fast delivery. Since our launch on April 5, orders have been pouring in. Hundreds of Pizza Rescue deliveries have been made with more to come. The buzz drove up online orders by 17%. Brand recall and consideration for Pizza Hut Delivery up by 12%. Pizza Hut Delivery became the No. 1 choice for pizza deliveries.

Execution

- Many hungry customers were unhappy about our late deliveries and made their frustrations known on social media. With every bad comment, our reputation took a beating.

- To reach find these unhappy customers fast, we constantly kept watch across social media.

- Before more damage to our fast delivery reputation we done, we surprised unhappy customers with fresh, oven-hot pizzas from Pizza Rescue.

- The campaign was launched on 5 April 2014 and is still ongoing. We are still keeping watch for unhappy customers.

Outcome

Since our launch on April 5, orders have been pouring in. Hundreds of Pizza Rescue deliveries have been made with more to come. We turned hungry mouths turned into willing broadcasters on social media. The generated buzz drove up online orders by 17%. Brand recall and consideration for Pizza Hut Delivery up by 12%. Pizza Hut Delivery became the No. 1 choice for pizza deliveries.
