Description

It’s one thing to tell people that we are all, at our core, the same. It’s another to build a piece of technology that reminds people that we are all human, thus all deserving of rights and respect. To demonstrate that, MasterCard created a Restroom for All, a bathroom with a door that opened for anyone with a heart. All you had to do is put your hand on the heart-shaped sensor. The sensor read your heartbeat and the door popped open.

Execution

We decided to fight hate with heart. To build our Restroom for All, we developed a custom API for a pulse sensor. Attendees would put their hand on the heart shaped sensor, and the sensor would read their heartbeat and wirelessly unlock the door. Knowing that people love to share mirror selfies, the restroom was equipped with an #acceptancematters mirror.

Outcome

The idea generated 10 MM earned impressions globally, both in social media and in press mentions.
