MasterCard has always been part of the music scene, traditionally as a concert and festival sponsor. But with the music industry in disarray, MasterCard saw opportunities to innovate and make something truly priceless to enrich the lives of young music fans.
Introducing Miyamo, the music app that makes anyone’s iTunes library social. Miyamo analyzes every track and generates a unique visual ID for every user based on their listening habits. Then on Facebook, Miyamo IDs let people share, comment on, and discover new music.
With each discovery, the IDs evolve to reflect listeners’ current tastes. Your ID changes color and shape as you listen to more genres. The ID also doubles as a visual playlist, with each petal activating a song. You can personalize your ID with custom artwork and unlock more patterns and backgrounds as you listen.
By connecting music fans, Miyamo is proving that MasterCard can enrich people’s lives in more ways than one and enable real priceless moments.
Execution
The goal of the design was to showcase the uniqueness of fans’ musical tastes and the evolution of their listening patterns. This idea of growth and evolution led to the flower petal inspired design.

Outcome
Launched in Mexico, Miyamo quickly became the country’s No. 1 free music app and the No. 2 free app in the iTunes store.
