OVERVIEW

Description

Lack of time is one of the main reasons people throw away food, they are unable to cook what they buy therefore resort to a much more practical solution: food delivery.

It’s easy, it’s practical and it’s virtually effortless. In 2015 the food delivery market, grew 300% in Brazil compared to the previous year.

In every one of these deliveries, bags went filled with food and came back empty. This is where we saw an opportunity to activate a new donation network.

Reverse Delivery uses the food delivery network backwards, and for the first time donating food became as easy as ordering it.

Execution

To launch the project and attract new partners, we went into partnership with one of the most traditional restaurants in São Paulo.

At the end of the second week 100 other restaurants had contacted us to join the project, which is now in over 100 restaurants throughout Brazil.

The scale of this project is infinite, since in order to participate, restaurants throughout Brazil and the world can implement reverse logistics into deliveries and donate to local charities.

Outcome

People who had never donated food before, have become regular donors.

Their attitude towards donations has completely changed, now that it is as easy as ordering a pizza.

Never before has Banco de Alimentos seen such an increase in their donor database.

Over 100 restaurants have adhered to the Reverse Delivery program growing our donation network to a proportion never achieved by the organization before.
