The LED lights inside emart detect the smartphone, sending data that makes finding products fun and easy.

1. The LED light technology sends ‘Visible Light’ data at lightning speeds.

2. This ‘Visible Light’ data is received through sensors and is transmitted to the smartphone via Bluetooth.

3. The ‘Visible Light’ data sent to the smartphone serves as a self-locator. Thus, sale locations and coupon information are sent accordingly along with a sale navigation.

Through the sale navigation, we’ve made the search for sale items easy and fun. A new era of shopping has begun and emart is heading the revolution. We expect great things as the potential of emart’s mobile business continues to grow and make a difference.

A new innovative technology that does what the GPS and Wifi can’t!

Unlike the commonly known Wi-Fi or GPS methods for navigation, we use VLC as the essential foundation for our indoor-navigation. VLC provides high accuracy locators of close distances within 2 meters and more precise guidance routes, followed by the appropriate coupon pop-up at just the right time and place. VLC can be used anywhere LED lights can be found, making it a unique strategic marketing tool. The environmental friendliness of LED lighting also supports Green efforts and can be significant towards a company’s branding and CSR efforts.

VLC technology has taken many years of research to get it where it is today, where it can be used on such a large scale. emart’s sale navigation has been praised and recognized by the business and academic community, as the first innovator to actually put the VLC technology into effect.

Outcome

A new type marketing is born, as VLC technology makes possible the sending and receiving of data via LED lights, even on automobile headlights, street lampposts and electronic signs.

VLC technology can be used anywhere an LED light can be installed. Sending warning data through automobile headlights could prevent car accidents and information being sent to and from cars creates another unique type of communication. A new type of marketing solution has taken face, as the LED headlights of cars become marketing messengers. Electronic scoreboards at a sports stadium can be used to send important promotional messages and we even see this technology being used for crime prevention purposes by utilizing the LED lights on street lampposts

In terms of environmental friendliness, the Korean government has issued orders for all large-scale discount retailers to use LED lighting. Thus, there is no additional financial burden to have to build an infra for the VLC technology. VLC technology is recognized as a strategic green effort that could help a brand make a significant environmental impact.
