The technology:*
Unity (also called Unity3D) is a cross-platform game engine with a built-in IDE developed by Unity Technologies. It is used to develop video games for web plugins, desktop platforms, consoles and mobile devices, and is utilized by over one million developers. Unity is primarily used to create mobile and web games, but can also deploy games to consoles or the PC.
*at the time we started developing the game, Unity3D was only available in a beta-version.
We could use a new technology in a new way in advertising by building a game to have our community to interact with the brand in a playful way.
Outcome
The game wasn’t broadly advertised.
Only through a teaser on the SBB-platform it quickly made the rounds on design and game blogs. Especially in Russia the game proved a hit.
So far we reached about 69,000 visits of which a third (21,000) started the game. Thus, they crossed one of the big hurdles – to install Unity. More than 77% have successfully completed the first level. On average 3.9 levels were played.
