Description

Starting point:

The Youth Platform of SBB Gleis7.ch shall be further stimulated.

Solution:

In order to avoid a usual competition we tried to bring our product closer to the community in a playful way. The punctual railway and the unique landscape, these are the things Switzerland are worldwide known for.

We created TrickyTracks, an online game that combines the two elements and this way makes the game an absorbing experience. For that we fell back upon known game mechanisms (Pinball) and combined them with the newest possibilities of web game programming. Unity 3D. What has been created is a browser game which makes the heart of train lovers, Switzerland fans, as well as Graphic Design fanatics leap.

Enjoy!

Execution

Brief scribbles at first, the imagination how the TrickyTracks world was meant to look like started to grow more and more. With love for details and the inspiration from well known retro Swiss graphic design we formed virtual landscapes which remind the user astonishingly well of the real Swiss landscapes.

The vintage influences in the graphic style put a warm and charming look and feel to the game and make the player dive into the world of TrickyTracks.

Don't forget: it's a browser game.

Outcome

The game wasn't broadly advertised.

Only through a teaser on the SBB-platform it quickly made the rounds on design and game blogs. Especially in Russia the game proved a hit.

So far we reached about 69,000 visits of which a third (21,000) started the game. Thus, they crossed one of the big hurdles – to install Unity. More than 77% have successfully completed the first level. On average 3.9 levels were played.
