OVERVIEW

Description

Greenpeace were locked out of the mainstream media by budget and lobbying by the big polluters.

So we pushed our solution for cleaner beaches by using an iconic part of Australian beach culture. We created our own “stubby holder” that showed how littering affects our wildlife.

Our drink holders were 3D modelled to look like a bird choking on litter. They were then printed in 100% recycled and recyclable paper – making sure our solution wasn’t part of the problem.

Execution

By using the action of a seabird choking on litter we illustrated the problem in people’s very hands.

And giving the tactile sensation of saving the seabird, we amplified our message of a solution to the problem.

All up, our drink cooler encapsulated both the challenge of Australia's litter strewn beaches and the potential to solve this critical issue.

Outcome

With limited budget, we sent our stubby holders to key bloggers, YouTubers, journalists, and activists with information explaining this critical issue.

With their help, we spread the word organically and bypassed a mass-media scared of offending the big polluters.

All just using something that keeps your drink cold.
