OVERVIEW

Description

ARD, Germany’s biggest broadcasting group with the highest coverage, organises a theme week each year. This year’s theme: Living with death. The theme week included coverage of Hamburg Leuchtfeuer, a charitable organisation with a hospice for people who have not got long to live. It is an indispensable support centre for those who need help working through their grief.

How can we help young people express their feelings?

Execution

With the help of augmented reality, anyone can write a message in the heavens – in memory of loved ones who have left us.

Anyone can leave a personal message as a way of expressing their feelings. All Messages are stored in exactly the same spot in the sky where they were originally left.

The crosses can be shared via Facebook or Twitter if desired. Thanks to built-in Google Maps, locations can be changed at any time. This way, messages can be read and placed all over the world.

Outcome

People all over Germany and in many other countries have written their own, very personal messages in the sky. With over 10.000 downloads in the first four weeks and countless messages, 'Sky of Memories' has become the world’s largest commemorative plaque.
