Background

China’s rapid E-commerce development has caused serious waste problems. There are estimated 9.9 billion cartons wasted every year in China due to inappropriate dispose without garbage sorting.

‘Small actions, Big Differences’ is a digital consumer engagement platform through which Unilever hopes to inspire consumers to live a sustainable way.

With the purpose of encouraging consumers to sort and dispose waste shipping cartons separately with other household garbage, find a simple and normal movement to make sustainable life become easier to realize, we come up with the idea "Small Cartons, Big Differences".

Execution

-Designing customized cartons with instructions of how to flatten it and waste sorting on the cartons and tapes.

-Posting image-texts on "Small actions, big differences" Wechat official account to attract more consumers to scan the QR code on the edge of cartons so they can followers of this account and receive posts about sustainable life

-Posting HTML 5 where consumers can upload their photos and earn membership points, in order to increase their motivation and engagement.
