Description

World renowned architect and MacArthur Fellow Jeanne Gang connects people and their communities by finding harmony in nature. To capture the natural design of her most famous structures and to celebrate her achievement as 2017 Public Humanities Award recipient, the “Solar Blueprints” poster series was created. Sunlight passed through photo-sensitive paper to create a unique set of prints.

Execution

The “Solar Blueprints” poster series is a limited edition, handmade poster series that was shared around Chicago in April of 2017 to promote the Illinois Humanities award event that was to be held on May 18th. The individual posters were also mailed to prospective supporters and benefactors along with information about the event and an invitation for them to purchase seats and attend.

Outcome

The objective of project was to help drive ticket sales and ensure a packed house

for the humanities event. The goal was exceeded with the help of the “Solar Blueprint” campaign. The poster series inspired people in the Chicago area to look at architecture in a new way and get out and support the humanities. The tickets sold out, and Illinois Humanities continued their mission of building dialogue across all sectors of society on matters of public policy, media, business and art.
