Execution

Everything started with the complete customization of two Airbus A319, that served the most important Brazilian business route. From the exterior painting to the interior design, the visual identity from past decades were reproduced. All the inflight content was recreated: a vintage safety video was specially produced for these planes, presenting the instructions in a humorous tone with all production elements from the past.

TAM’s internationally awarded inflight magazine was 100% recreated following a vintage editorial design, a “new” graphic project from the cover to each session and page. The same was applied to the inflight video program that presented new videography and the cast members were characterized in a retro style. The content was focused on aviation history, the company's heritage and the TAM museum collection.

Outcome

The vintage in-flight experience was a huge success among passengers and made a huge buzz on local media.More than one hundred thousand visitors have since been to the museum and it has become a popular destination for aviation fans, kids on school trips and the public in general. To aviation fans the Vintage project generated an emotional journey comparable only, in the words of a TAM employee, seeing the Brazilian soccer team playing again with the legendary 1970’s uniform.
