The first challenge was giving the illusion that the skiers were going up hill. The team studied various camera angles and positions and realized that by tilting the camera and restoring the image that was lost and replacing the background we created the necessary effect for a lot more of shots. Afterwards, we had some suspension moments that were created by having the skiers suspended with cables. The second main challenge was to create Trojena, Neom mountains, a place not ready yet, where mountains and desert meet. We used a lot of matte painting, cgi rocks, and restoring of the mountain sides to show a mix between snow and desert surfaces. Being that Neom is currently being built, also needed to be in cgi, we created everything from scratch a futuristic place that will exist a few years from now. Finally, the avalanche was created using Houdini and flame composting.
