Description

“The Chase” is about projecting the fully realized, wonderful version of yourself out into the world, finding it, and literally pursuing it. In each vignette, the woman we see first is the plain, burned out, or uninspired version. After spying their well-dressed doppelgangers attired in the latest spring fashions from Macy’s dining in restaurants, hopping on the bus or catching a cab, these women vow that they'll catch up with them, "one way or another." Set to Blondie’s hit song, every step of the way we get a little more excited, a little closer to reaching the improved us. “The Chase” ends with the first woman finally reaching herself, seeing herself and being the woman she wants to be. She literally has responded to Macy’s sounding call to “Find the Remarkable You.”

Execution

Casting was critical to making a clear distinction between an inner journey and the outer objectifying gaze. As a character-driven piece, we needed talent that understood the balance of fashion and human nature. We sought to cast actresses and some models that could act for performances that immediately draw us into the personal quest. The casting needed to be cutting edge and tap into contemporary culture. Casting women of varying body types with interesting, memorable, and alluring qualities were key, as were ethnic and age diversity, in order to convey Macy’s universal sounding call to “Find the Remarkable You.”
