OVERVIEW

Description

We built the world's first connected weather simulator, where travelers could experience their destination live before even boarding the plane.

Three chambers were hooked up to online weather services, and translated the data into our physical world. Each chamber had everything from wind and sun simulations to huge screens playing different films depending on the climate at the destination.

Execution

We built the world's first connected weather simulator at Arlanda Airport, where travelers could experience their destination live before even boarding the plane.

For two weeks, three chambers were hooked up to online weather services, and translated the data into our physical world. Each chamber had everything from wind and sun simulations to huge screens playing different films depending on the climate at the destination.

To spread the news about the weather simulator outside of Arlanda, we aimed at selected media outlets, hoping they could spread the word.

Outcome

The Climate Portal was a colossal hit. Reporters from across the world came to do stories on it, giving the portal a total potential reach of close to to one billion people and an estimated ad value of 150 times the investment.

But what mattered most was the 225 000 people who used it to check if they actually had packed the perfect bag.
