A colloquial Northeast VO utters the words “I’ve been on the ropes”. The voiceover rings out as the most famous boxer known to man, Muhamad Ali, as he stomachs an onslaught of punches from his opponent. The vision then cuts to sombre sporting moments, an injured Tiger Woods falls to his knees in excruciating pain, cut to Man City’s hopes and dreams of a first PL title fading away. The music swells, and in the moment of apparent despair the comeback begins. Ali fights back, Aguero strikes the winning goal for Man City and Tiger Woods rises back on top. The VO proudly exclaims “I am Sport, and this is my comeback”. A message of hope and pride that aligned with the mood of the nation during an extremely testing time, never give up and always fight back.
