Description
We have set up the very first unmanned driving experience station in Wuzhen – the famous Chinese scenic spot. People can come here to sit in the Baidu Unmanned Vehicle to personally experience autonomous driving. As the Baidu Autonomous Driving was put into operation at the station, it successfully completed a lot of complicated driving actions such as emergency stop, overtaking and doubling. This campaign directly let people experience how Baidu unmanned driving works, and not to tell is effective to build up the trust in the feasibility of Baidu Autonomous Driving.
Execution
Oct: Negotiate and coordinate with local government to set up the station during the World Internet Conference.
Nov 4: Invite media to visit and witness building of the station
Nov 10: send out invitation for media and audience for the first ride
Nov 16: startup of the station
Outcome
As our Autonomous Driving was put into operation at the station, it successfully completed a lot of complicated driving actions such as emergency stop, overtaking and doubling.
1 Million views after the experience videos were uploaded to the Internet.
7 Major TV news programme covered the event during the launch of the station, including the highest-state-level TV news programme CCTV News. Hundreds of media reported “Baidu Autonomous Driving Experience Station” within several days, including print and online.
In SNS community, the number of Weibo reposts reached over 10 Million with a positive comment rate of over 70%. Nearly 100 earned media were attracted, including well-known KOLs.
Baidu Index of our autonomous car ?a tool like Google Trend?reached the peak during the year, increasing by 286%
Awareness of our autonomous vehicle was greatly increased, and trust on autonomous driving was built.
