Background

Each day in France, over 2 people die as a result of not being able to receive an organ donation.

In 2021, the organ donation refusal rate has passed 33% while only 17% of French people declare themselves opposed to the donation of their organs post-mortem.

This discrepancy shows what is at stake. This is mainly due to the lack of dialogue between the deceased and his or her family, whose opinion is called upon by healthcare professionals. Too often, the relatives ignore the will of the deceased or make the decision in his place, faced with the distress of the loss.

France ADOT, a federation of associations recognized of public interest, chose World Organ Donor Day to launch an awareness campaign to free speech about organ donation.

An activation to put a stop to the refusal rate’s climb and ensure the will of each French is known and unquestioned.

Idea

To raise awareness of this cause, we launch an innovative digital campaign : THE FIRST NFT THAT GIVES LIFE.

Our idea is to put the blockchain technology at the service of human life using NFTs.

An NFT is a tamper-proof and unique digital property certificate stored on the blockchain.

On a dedicated website, we offer to each French the possibility to encapsulate their will to donate (or not) their organs in the future in the form of an NFT registered in the blockchain, delivering a unique and inviolable certificate of authenticity so that the will of each person is visible, audible, recognized and unquestioned by his relatives.

Our strategy:

- partnering with GALEON, the first health ecosystem on blockchain, to access to the blockchain technology

- designing a Web3 service as a pretext to alert media on organ donation and free speech

Execution

On the thefirstnftthatgiveslife.com every French people can record their will orally.

It is then automatically transformed into a unique, personalized and shareable NFT. A world premiere!

Each user obtain a digital personalized sphere that encapsulates the sound wave of their will, orally recorded.

Once generated on the website, everyone is encouraged to share their NFT with their loved ones to make their will known and to free up the word on organ donation. This NFT can be revoked at any time.

The campaign is taken over by the French main medias such as:

but also by the press:

- Yahoo!

- MSN

- Doctissimo...

This large media exposure allowed us to reach more than 6 millions of French people and more than 1,4 million of organic impressions online.
