Sometimes simplicity is the solution to all. Why make an incredibly crafted email to catch the attention if all it takes for people to open it is if the email is an accidentally forwarded one? One you weren't intended to read. What if this email comes from no one else than the agency CEO?
We made a Christmas card where we intentionally forwarded the entire email history covering the months of planning behind a Christmas card. Recognizable conversations with all the mad ideas, production issues, odd responses up to the final reply... the 'accidental' forward of the mail.
Execution
The idea itself is obviously the forwarded email with all the previous exchanges. So we wanted to make it look as realistically as possible. So a REAL email without pictures or illustrations featuring very recognizable conversations by the people.
Outcome
An opening rate of an incredible 70% on our email !
Positive reactions by many many people and a few mails from people who thought the accidental
