As previously mentioned, reaching and engaging skaters is no easy task, as they are a very sceptical group who is not easily convinced. And it is especially hard for a smaller brand like Soöruz, when we are going up against giants like Nike, Adidas and others. With The List, we have created a system where rewards are given based on true skill – and taken the world of skateboarding games into reality.

The List was created specifically for Soöruz, to strengthen their position within the global skateboarding community and to sell products through a new channel. It makes skating even more fun and rewarding, while at the same time creating long-term and very active engagement between the target group and the brand.

The List is the first app that gives skateboarders rewards and discount deals for the web shop, for real tricks.

For the app to detect skateboard tricks, we must analyse all the data sent by the sensors (gyroscope and accelerometer), clean it (false positives, incoherent data) and transform it into trick patterns. Not an easy task.

The List is currently in a beta stage, and the next step will be continuing to improve the precision of trick recognition, expand the trick list and improve detection of cheaters. We will also increase the production of the protective shockproof case to meet the demand of skaters waiting to join.

Outcome

The List is expected to continue to attract new users and motivate them to frequently interact with the brand – making it a natural part of their skating. Of course, the gaming aspect will also attract users who simply want to skate for pride of beating other skaters from all over the world.

Results for BETA version

• The BETA test group filled up in just 3 days.

• 53% are interacting with the brand on a daily basis.

• Close to 200 000 successfully landed tricks have been registered so far.

• 85% of users have invited an average of 11 friends from the skateboarding community, who are now on the waiting list, standing by for the official release.

• Best of all, 23% have purchased Soöruz products
