OVERVIEW

Description

Burry Stander was a true South African hero. As a mountain biker, he was the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup under-23 men's cross-country 2009 world champion, represented SA at the 2012 Olympic Games and was the only South African to win the Absa Cape Epic – twice - with his team partner, Christoph Sauser in 2011 and 2012. On the 3rd of January 2013, while on his way home from a morning training session, Burry was struck and killed by a minibus taxi. He was 25.

A specially recorded Shosholoza – a South African song synonymous with sport and victory - and the same bike that Burry would have used in this year's Absa Cape Epic were you used in the spot, remembering a legend.
