Execution

On the 29th of October in 2013, Twitter launched an update that allowed images to appear directly in the Twitter feed. (Instead of having to click additional links to view an image on a different page.) We seized this opportunity immediately, creating a service that would create an image of a longer tweet which, after the October update, blended in seamlessly to the platform.

The Twitter Prolonger allowed users to write 300 character tweets-- 160 characters more than normal tweets, signaling the benefit of driving Renault's fuel-efficient cars.

Outcome

The Renault Twitter Prolonger was part of a larger integrated campaign that helped the brand's fuel-economy line increase sales by 39% from the previous year. Additionally, leads to Renault.se increased by 66% from the previous year
