Background

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the use of machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques in a wide range of applications, from natural language processing to computer vision and robotics. In particular, deep learning has been a key technique that has driven many advances in artificial intelligence.

With this, ethical and moral debates also arose about the intellectual property of artificial intelligences and their rights: Who is the author of the works generated by Midjourney? Is it okay to do a degree thesis with ChatGPT3? All this discussion in media and social networks reveals that even the rights of an avatar, a person that does not exist, have more relevance and are more respected than those of migrants, Afghan women, or the LGBTIQ community in Russia and Qatar.

Outcome

The repercussion was immediate and the topic became a trending topic and put human rights back on the media agenda.

Amnesty not only managed to improve its network interactions and number of signatures on its website, it also managed to increase its fundraising goals by 25%, outside of any of its annual fundraising campaigns.
