Background
Storms are an inevitable part of Motherhood. Adolescence is a turbulent time for mothers and children alike, which is why O Boticário's goal on this Mother's Day was to connect with mothers guiding their child through this phase, and spark conversations about a topic scarcely addressed by society: the challenges encountered by mothers navigating their child's teenage years.
It's about experiences and women who deserve recognition, conveyed through a powerful narrative sure to ignite empathy and reflection. The final message inspires hope and authenticity, revealing what remains once the storm has passed.
Execution
Framing, moving and lighting at the narrative’s service, but with nothing but elegancy and fluidity in command, is how this piece was photographed. Even within a mis-en-scene rather elaborated, considering a moving and rocking film set. The camera had to be gripped independently from the scenario so as to create a real feeling: as if, out of nowhere, a house would begin to shake and rock like a boat in a storm. Two cameras were used simultaneously to capture dialogues and characters’ interactions with the proper realness, but leading to many collateral challenges within such a tight set space. Colors, brightness and contrasts can be calibrated very meticulously by color grading, something made possible only by such a well photographed material. A perfectly timed pull back movement leading to a flash back sequence is a high mark.
