Execution

In the main shopping streets in Spain, we used living statues to represent Unicef´s work in Africa. Like any living statue, it only moved for money.A woman, who was giving dirty water to her baby to drink, changed the bottle to clean water when someone gave her a coin. A teacher taught his pupils a different letter of the alphabet every time he was given a coin.A sign by each statue’s feet read: Change the lives of millions of children -Become a Unicef member.

Outcome

In terms of profitability, just with the cash donations to the statues, the budget for the action was comfortably covered, approximately 3,000 Euros per day.The actions shattered the record for members and donations in one day.The fundraisers noted a radical change in the attitude and predisposition of potential members. It just wasn’t necessary to explain the importance of their donation. The negative perception of face to face fundraising has changed. Unicef has managed to get people to approach them instead of running from them.
