Background

The Singapore credit card market is flooded with similar benefits and claims. Banks shout about their high rebate rates while maintaining slippage via terms and conditions. The truth is that all cashback cards offered by banks have limitations with a minimum spend or a cap.

In line with their business objective of gaining market share, Standard Chartered decided to launch a new card with unlimited 1.5% cashback on all spends: no cap, no minimum spend.

We set out on a journey to make their new cashback card the most desirable card in Singapore.

Description

This animated film demonstrates how easy it is to earn cashback with the new Standard Chartered Unlimited Cashback credit card. We brought to life a pinball machine that showed cashback being racked up as the ball travelled through miniature landscapes representing different spending categories – travel, shopping and dining.

The ball zipped past tropical islands, a ski resort, high street shops, and buffet spreads, scoring cashback rewards every time it hit something. Shop signs popping up above malls, a snowboarder hanging in mid-air and dolphins jumping through water were all part of the nonstop action.

All these were accompanied by a high tempo soundtrack, where the ringing of a cash register could be heard each time the pinball scores cashback. As the key benefits of the credit card came to life, we showed that earning unlimited cashback is as easy and fun as play.

Execution

The animated film was created within a period of three and a half weeks. It was launched on 8 March 2017 and ran till 31 May 2017. The Unlimited Cashback film has been mainly delivered to our target audience in Singapore via digital video on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. It was also promoted on web banners, print and outdoor media (shopping malls, taxis and train stations).
