In each case the normally static or one way communication delivered by the medium was transformed into a two way interactive dialogue with consumers. The bus shelter and the TV became a personal cinema for that moment in time, thereby engaging consumers and creating an all important pre-opening relationship.
Outcome
War of the Worlds opened to massive box office success. The opening weekend box office was $6.55 million, the film reached its total target in the first week, despite massive competition from the highest rating annual TV event.
In total, WOTW took an incredible $22.5 million at the box office.
