Description
Show the people of Wellington how they will have to live with their actions of pouring away poisons.
Posters were placed in the harbour where people swam, in the sea where people dived, and on the surface of the sea where people surfed. Their disgusting actions were shown to them.
They may have thought they’d left them behind when they poured them down their drains, but they now had to swim in their poisons.Brave creative for a government department. The local tides could have ripped the posters apart leaving the council open to a charge of wasting taxpayers' money and littering the water.
Outcome
An increase in hits to the Greater Wellington website, especially those pages explaining how harmful paint and paint cleaner poured down drains ends up in the rivers and seas of the region and poisons wildlife.Increased membership to the council’s environmental campaign called “Be the Difference" - helping achieve over 60% of the sign up numbers in less than 50% of the allocated time.Production costs halved as Resene co-funded the idea.
