OVERVIEW

Write a short summary of what happens in the film.

The film explores a noble point of view on the act of betting, showing the unconditional and resilient support of a father to his son: a young man of humble origin who, like other boys from Brazilian favelas, managed, with much struggle, to become a football star.

"Believe" offers a fresh perspective by illuminating the noble aspect of betting - these players only made it to where they are because someone took a chance on them.

Background:

In the lead-up to the World Cup, which was marked by an influx of numerous betting brands entering the Brazilian market, Betano faced a challenging scenario. To differentiate itself from the competition and expand its user base in Brazil, Betano required a standout marketing campaign.

Tell the jury about the casting process.

In order to establish a deep sense of empathy and closeness with the audience, our casting process was painstakingly meticulous in accurately portraying the daily habits, challenges, and aspirations of the typical population residing in a Brazilian suburb.

Nevertheless, our greatest challenge was casting the film's leading duo - the father and the young player - who not only required exceptional acting skills, but also an innate familiarity and proficiency with football.

Alongside the duo, we carefully selected over 50 actors to authentically portray a range of scenarios, including everyday life in the suburbs and various levels of Brazilian clubs. Each move and action in the film was rigorously rehearsed and directed by a professional football coach.

To heighten the film's authenticity, we also cast local amateur actors to imbue the locations with a genuine sense of life.

Is there any cultural context that would help the jury understand how this work was perceived by people in the country where it ran?

The overwhelming majority of the Brazilian population lives in the suburbs of large cities. A poor population that suffers from a lack of schools, transportation and basic conditions. Many of these families see football as an opportunity for their children to progress in life. This is the story of almost all Brazilian football stars.

Our film brings a unique point of view by highlighting a noble reading about the act of betting: these players only got there because someone, one day, bet on them.
