American Express presents Jingle Sells: 100 Jingles for 100 Small Businesses. Inspired by throwback ad tunes, Jingle Sells celebrates the magic of each of these shops, with 100 custom jingles for small businesses from bakeries to barbers, tacos stands to coffee shops. The lyrics of each jingle were developed in partnership with each small business owner, to ensure they received a tailored piece of marketing that truly reflected their business. We helped them identify the one big thing that was most memorable and then turned that into an earworm performed by professional musicians and Broadway singers. Not only did our unique holiday jingles bring attention to the importance of shopping small it also offered small businesses something that they can use to market themselves throughout the holiday season and beyond.

Please tell us how disruption in your market inspired the work
Small businesses were deeply impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Leading up to the 2021 holiday shopping season, 78% of small business owners said holiday sales would impact their ability to keep their doors open in 2022. Many small businesses lack the time and resources to create their own marketing materials, and amplifying their marketing efforts, particularly during the crowded holiday marketing season, seemed like an impossible challenge to overcome.
That’s why for American Express’ 12th Small Business Saturday, the brand dedicated marketing dollars to promoting dozens of carefully selected small businesses across the country to help drive traffic to their stores during a critical sales window. American Express enlisted the talent of Broadway singers, including Rebecca Naomi Jones and Courtnee Carter and more, to perform each jingle and celebrate the stories of these small businesses, all while furthering American Express’ support of Broadway, an industry also heavily impacted by COVID-19.
