Write a short summary of what happens in the film.
Play It Safe was written and composed by Australian singer Tim Minchin as an ironic salute to the bold, visionary experiment that became the Opera House, and in celebration of fifty years of the architectural marvel. The song is a musical homage to a building that tested the limits of engineering and design, forever changing the face of Sydney.
The film was approached with the utmost reverence for the building & what it represents, retaining the satirical wink, ever present in the lyrics. Beginning in a world of conformity down to the brown suits, emblematic of voices that stifle inspiration. Travelling through the house, featuring a veritable who’s who of Australia’s top talent & emerging on the steps in a new world of expression. The film is a wry, potent message about the importance of defying conventions and taking risks.
Background:
In 2023, The Sydney Opera house celebrated its golden anniversary. The building itself is much more than an incredible feat of architecture to Australians- it also serves as a monument to creative bravery. The Opera House holds a special place in the hearts of Australians both in & outside of the arts- it is also the country's busiest performing arts venue.
