Background:

OnStar, a General Motors brand, has been a leader in the automotive safety industry for years. However, as the brand expanded beyond the vehicle by developing a new app, it recognized the need to increase awareness of its services.

To achieve this, OnStar sought to engage its target audience entertainingly and engagingly that would demonstrate its safety leadership and inspire people to take proactive measures to ensure their health in life-threatening circumstances—creating a podcast provided the brand with an unexpected opportunity to connect with its audience and promote its authority in the safety space.

The stories within the podcast showcased the value of a human connection in an emergency, an essential attribute of OnStar's services, while the inclusion of an expert in each episode offered proactive measures for listeners to protect their own health in similar situations.

Describe the Impact:

Tell Me What Happened raised awareness about child abuse and destigmatized its trauma while empowering survivors to share their stories.

TMWH had a global reach with listeners from 160+ countries and was featured in major media outlets like The New York Times, The Guardian, and BBC World Service.

Podcast received positive feedback and sparked conversations about the impact of abuse and the need for better support for survivors on social media and in communities.

TMWH impacted listeners' behavior, increasing awareness of child abuse and forensic interviews. Some reported changes such as increased vigilance in protecting children and a greater willingness to report suspected abuse.

TMWH achieved its objectives of raising awareness about helping strangers, destigmatizing the trauma of abuse, and empowering survivors to share their stories.

The podcast also exceeded expectations regarding its reach and engagement, reaching a global audience and sparking meaningful conversations about the impact of abuse.
