5FM is South Africa’s largest youth radio station. They sponsor most of the international and local music concerts, many of which take place during the week. To emphasise the scale of these parties and to encourage attendance, we created a piece of software called the 5fm jobsaver, to help partygoers cope with the following day at work. All you need to do is install, angle your back to the door, place your hand on the mouse and click go. The 5fm Jobsaver automatically ‘types’ memos, ‘checks’ spreadsheets, ‘browsers’ pie charts and ‘sends and receives’ emails – helping you catch up on much deserved rest.
Execution
We developed the the 5fm jobsaver. A software application that was sent to the 5fm mailing list a few days before an upcoming midweek party. A message attached read that the party was going to be huge and if you were attending, then you’d need the jobsaver for the following day. Once installed, you had to angle your back to the door, place your hand on the mouse and click go. The 5fm Jobsaver would then automatically ‘type’ memos, ‘check’ spreadsheets, ‘browse’ pie charts and ‘send and receive’ emails – helping you catch up on much deserved rest.
Outcome
Due to the viral nature of the programme, it reached a much larger audience then anyone could have anticipated. It boosted midweek concert attendance by 15% and the programme itself has become somewhat of a running joke in office environments around South Africa, giving 5fm important brand exposure in the business sector.
