Description
The brief was to devise a brand campaign for black, English radio station Metro FM. We created an ad that spoke to the station's target market, the black elite and those who aspire to be that.The commercial demonstrates a nostalgic journey of someone’s life using imagery reminiscent of a township he is from towards a more slick, sexy and aspirational lifestyle that he aspires to.
The look and feel combined the energy, vibrancy and passion of township life with the slick, sexy, ultra cool tone of the station. It was shot in one day on a giant 12 m wide spinning record using sets built specifically for each scene. The music combined classic Kwaito beats with more modern smoother sounds that fit well with the idea of the commercial.
