Description
In this humorous ad, Aunt Flo pays visits to women of different ages: A 20-something couple is at their wits end hoping for Aunt Flo to pay a visit after she's six days late; a tween eagerly awaits for her period to start; and a middle-aged woman deals with the start of menopause and the end of her visits from Aunt Flo.
Execution
HelloFlo Founder Naama Bloom worked directly with the copywriters and Kimberly-Clark team to concept and create a script for the video. Once shot and produced, Naama, Kimberly-Clark and SheKnows Media (which acquired HelloFlo in May) developed a comprehensive PR plan to ensure the spot was covered by trade press, as well as consumer press. The editorials teams at HelloFlo and SheKnows Media, which reaches 81 million unique visitors per month and 285 million social media fans and followers, posted articles and shared the video once it launched on April 12 across social media channels like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
Outcome
Live for little more than a month, "A Visit From Aunt Flo" has garnered nearly a half million YouTube views. It was also praised by the media: more than 15 articles covered the long-form post positively, from Ad Age to Digiday to SELF to Mashable to The Huffington Post.
As the SELF article puts it, "there are hilariously relatable moments in the video as well. Aunt Flo showing up when you’re about to get it on? Real. Aunt Flo’s late arrival causing tension between you and your significant other? Also real. The people at HelloFlo just get it."
