Description
Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI) have a website: www.alzheimer-india.org that provides information, counselling and support. Given that awareness of Alzheimer’s Disease is woefully low even among people suffering from it, we needed to raise awareness of this website among patients and potential patients in cities across India.
Execution
Since people at risk are mainly senior citizens, it was important to keep things simple. We needed them to remember one URL so what better than a pad of Post-It's to help them do that? We printed www.alzheimer-india.org onto Post-It pads and distributed them via banks, doctors and chemists.
The solution served two purposes. Firstly, for Alzheimer patients, the pads helped them remember things. And secondly, for potential patients who found themselves using the pads a little more than usual, it served as a reminder about the website where they could get support.
Outcome
The website received a 87% increase in the number of hits in the months following the widespread activity. 189 senior citizens contacted ARDSI for treatment after realising that they might be suffering from memory-related disorders. “We were overwhelmed by the increase in the number of senior citizens at our next medical camp (that guides the elderly to deal with memory related disorders).”Parul Kibliwala, Honorary Secretary, ARDSI.
