Description

Watch Robert Griffin III (RGIII) go all in for week 1 in the new adidas Impact Camo training gear as he puts every win, every loss and every headline behind him.

Execution

Adidas “Blow Up” spot was created to promote Adidas’ line of training shoes and apparel. The spot was shot in 4 days in both Los Angeles and Florida, on a budget of about $990k.

While the spot utilizes the celebrity of Robert Griffin III, concept of “blowing up” and the explosions on the screen are what carries it. For these explosions, a combination of practical and post effects were used to achieve the best, most impactful results within the budget.

The various locations also enhance the spot, and give the action feel larger, on a grander scale. The first three shoot days were in Los Angeles, with multiple company moves, shooting at Mystery Mesa, Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studios, Little Rock High School, and Occidental College. These locations are where the majority of the action – both the sports and the explosions, took place. With the final shoot day, the production team traveled to Pensacola, Florida, where they shot at the Athletes’ Performance Institute for additionally training footage.
