OVERVIEW

Description

This spot details the journey of Otis, a quirky 12 year old boy as he travels the world to all kinds of exotic destinations crossing must sees from his bucket list... all with the help of the largest online travel company, Expedia.

Execution

With a travel company as the client, there was a lot of pressure to re-create various foreign destinations convincingly even though we didn't have the budget to shoot them for real. The biggest challenge of this job was to shoot an around the world trip through a kid's eyes without going around the world. To reveal the costs of the job would be embarrassing and not a precedence we want to set for the production industry. However what was necessary was to ensure that what little money there was used to enable us to get to India to shoot one key scene, the remainder was shot in suburban Auckland. We set out to depict the world through the eyes of a 12 year old boy and in doing so created the edges of different environments to give it a truly global feel.
