Description
“The visual experience is a big part of electronic music. It's not in a pub anymore. So it has to be huge now and it needs to be visceral on a grand scale.” Marcus Lyall
“The overall concept was for the visuals to really react with the lights. Normally, the lights [at a gig] go on the ceiling and sides of the stage, as no-one wants to put them on the floor if a band are going to be running around, but we designed this grid, and it allowed us to create some incredible lighting” Adam Smith
Execution
The show redefined and expanded the parameters for live electronic music. The tour was described by The Guardian as “an all-round aesthetic explosion”. Adam Smith also filled in for Chemical Brother Ed Simons on the tour operating music; lights and visuals live from the stage.
Outcome
Critiically acclaimed and viewed by iver 2million people worldwide including peak Glastonbury viewing figures on the BBC.
"The Chemical Brothers’ LED visuals and all-round aesthetic explosion was a gargantuan visual show like nothing I’d ever seen – a combination of an acid-house warehouse rave and a storyboard of psychedelic hallucinations, all synchronised to their music’s sledgehammer onslaught." The Guardian
"The Chemical Brothers blew us away with their spellbinding new live show and psychedelic new material. Huge new tracks and even bigger visuals - this is a must see." Mix Mag
"The light show looks simply mesmerising." The Telegraph
"From giant tin robots and laser shows to motion capture footage filmed at Andy Serkis’ Imaginarium, The Chemical Brothers' latest live show features some spectacular visuals." Creative Review
