Description
The challenges we faced were to spark interest and enthusiasm about Qatar to tourism professionals, and change their perception of the country, known as a place of foreign investment to an exciting tourist destination.
Execution
For our final design, we avoided the traditional travel brochure and sent tourism professionals two uniquely designed books telling the story of Qatar through illustrations in a series titled, “Qataristic”.
In the book “PiQture”, we showcased an exciting journey in Qatar featuring all the country’s attractions. In the book, “Qollection” we created a motif using the letter “Q” and detailed the different characteristics Qatar.
Underneath each motif we replaced letters in words with a Q, like “Qreativity” to highlight the unique fact that
Qatar is the only country that starts with the letter “Q”.
Outcome
The operation was launched in France in April 2014. 150 books have been edited and Qatar Tourism Authority has already received 20 requests from travel agents to set up a commercial trip to visit the country. Qatar Tourism Authority now plans to launch the operation in the UK and Germany in September 2014.
