An overprotective mother bursts in on the military conscription training and embarrasses her teenage son. In the end, the awkward scene is released by the message “Luckily, your mum is not here”. The ironic twist portrays conscription as a chance to mature and grow personally as a young person as opposed to being treated as a small child. The underlying message speaks to the desire to become an independent young person and break away from the the ‘child role’ all to familiar to young people living at home with mum and dad.
