OVERVIEW

Background

There is yet another inequality between the sexes that still remains taboo: the inequality of orgasms. Only 35% of heterosexual women reach orgasm with their partners, compared to 95% of men. This is called the orgasm gap. But a simple solution does exist: foreplay. Adding foreplay allows 80% of women to reach orgasm with their partners. It’s really a matter of education… but the problem is that young people learn about sex, by watching porn—which distorts their view of what real sex should look like. So how could SKYN, a sexual wellness brand, raise awareness and work to close this orgasm gap?

Idea

In order to work towards closing this orgasm gap between the sexes—SKYN launched DON’T SKIP FOREPLAY; an awareness campaign broadcast on Pornhub. Featuring adult actress and sex advocate: Stoya. For over a month, users were able to see an unskippable pre-roll with the message, “you can skip an ad, but you shouldn’t skip foreplay”. A video of sensual foreplay directed viewers to skyn.com, where they could discover tips on how to reach orgasm with their partner…and a special condom leaflet that not only depicts how to put on a condom but also all that should happen before that moment through a dozen illustrations: foreplay. Reminding that sex begins long before the condom comes.

Strategy

Today, just 35% of heterosexual women reach orgasm with their partners—compared to 95% of men. This inequality is called the orgasm gap. But the simple act of adding foreplay, allows 80% of women to reach orgasm. It’s a matter of education, but the problem is that young people learn about sex by watching porn—which distorts their view of what real sex looks like. So, SKYN launched an awareness campaign, “DON’T SKIP FOREPLAY”, where their target’s eyes are wide open: Pornhub. Featuring adult actress and sex advocate: Stoya.
